Our School Community - Principal's Message

Welcome to St Luke the Evangelist Blackburn South

St. Luke’s was established in 1962. We are a Catholic co-educational school that was built from funds provided by our Parish Community.

Over the past 55 years we have nurtured many thousands of children from our Parish. We are characterised by a safe and secure environment with a supportive parent and Parish community.

We currently have 208 students learning and growing at St Luke’s. This number of students ensures every child is known to us and each has many opportunities to participate in our vast range of programs and activities. Each child holds a leadership position in their senior year developing their leadership skills prior to secondary school.

We acknowledge that parents are the children’s prime educators and consider ourselves privileged to work in this partnership. Our students are taught, nurtured and inspired by an outstanding team who are dedicated, passionate and committed to their roles as teachers, role models and mentors. We believe that when teachers, parents and students develop strong relationships built on mutual trust and respect, then our students will be happy and willing learners.

We strive to contribute to the development of students’ sense of self-worth, enthusiasm for learning and optimism for the future.

Father Dishan Candappa and I invite you to visit our school and to talk with ourselves, our staff or our students. After all, we are best placed to tell our school’s story. Please feel free to make an appointment to visit our school so we can share our wonderful story.
